Tottenham turn down chance to sign midfielder for just £17m

The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) have now become the latest to suggest that Fagioli is not in Thiago Motta’s plans, with Juve trying hard to offload him in the final week of the window.
It is revealed that the Serie A club even offered their academy graduate to Tottenham for a discounted price of €20m (£16.8m), but the North London club did not show any interest in the player.
Juve have reportedly been trying to drum up interest from the Premier League for the 23-year-old and offered the midfielder for the same amount to Crystal Palace and Fulham, but even those clubs showed no interest in doing a deal.
It is explained that Spurs are willing to trigger the winger’s €58m (£48.6m) release clause before the transfer deadline, thus raising the possibility that the youngster ‘could pack his bags and embark on a new adventure’.
Ange Postecoglou reportedly feels that the Spaniard would bring dynamism to his forward line, with Tottenham believing that the Athletic Club man will aid their efforts to push themselves back up among the elite of the Premier League.
It has now been suggested that the Lilywhites might pull a rabbit out of the hat by paying the release clause of one of La Liga’s most highly-rated wingers, but they do face competition from one of their fierce rivals.
