Rangers will possibly fail in their appeal to overturn the red card Mohamed Diomade received as Rangers beat Dundee United 3-1 in the Scottish Premiership, Danel Caw shared.
The Daily Record journalist revealed former referee Des Roache told him that the Gers have an “extremely slim” chance of succeeding in reversing Nick Walsh’s decision at Tannadice Park on Sunday (26 January).
Keith Jackson was baffled by the claim and criticised Walsh for making the “crazy” call towards the end of the fixture despite being called over by VAR to have a second look.
Speaking on Hotline Live, Caw said: “He [Roach] thinks the odds of it being overturned are extremely slim.”
Jackson responded: “Wow. I mean, wow. He [Diomande] is pushed in the chest. In no way is he the aggressor in that scenario. I think it’s crazy. Honestly, if that is a red card offence these days, you’re looking at games finishing 7-a-side.
“I can’t believe Walsh, having the benefit of a second look… stuck by it.”
Rangers to be aggrieved by Mohamed Diomande red card decision
The Light Blues will have every right to be aggrieved if Domande’s suspension isn’t revoked after his incident with Kevin Holt.
There didn’t seem to be much in it, and the Ivory Coast international was evidently unlucky to be sent off.
The Bears had a nervy start against Dundee United, with Sam Dalby scoring in the opening minutes of the first half as the Tangerines dominated the game.
Rangers came into their own after about the half-hour mark, with Diomande equalising just before the break.
Robin Propper gave the Gers the lead early in the second half before Cyriel Dessers got his name on the scoresheet late in the game.
The Light Blues face Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday (30 January) before returning to action in the Scottish Premiership against Ross County on 2 February.
