How Kieran Trippier actually feels about leaving Newcastle United and re-joining Atletico Madrid

Newcastle United are happy to see players leave the club in the January transfer window.

Newcastle staff have reiterated that the focus in the transfer window has been more on departures than arrivals. The Magpies have loaned out several players already including forgotten Newcastle man Isaac Hayden.

There is yet to be a permanent departure, though. However, in the next few days, Miguel Almiron is set to rejoin Atlanta United for £10m.

Reports suggest that Newcastle have accepted the fee for the 30-year-old, but wage demands look like a minor stumbling block that should be sorted before the transfer window closes.

Atlanta are happy to wait for Almiron who could feature in Newcastle’s visit to Southampton on Saturday.

Lloyd Kelly has also been touted for a January exit. Newcastle rejected two approaches for Kelly from Fenerbahce and Juventus.

With the transfer window closing in a week, another name who has been unsettled this season could make a return to a club he won a league title with.

Kieran Trippier linked with Atletico Madrid return

Kieran Trippier has found game time hard at Newcastle this season. The 34-year-old has made 15 appearances in all competitions, with most of them coming from the bench

The former England international enjoyed a short spell in Eddie Howe’s starting XI before the new year when Tino Livramento was out with illness. He helped Newcastle to a 3-0 win against Aston Villa and a 2-0 win against Manchester United.

Trippier could leave Newcastle in January. He nearly left in the summer when Istanbul Basaksehir’s manager called Trippier in an attempt to convince him to move to the Turkish side.

It was reported in December that Trippier still wants to leave Newcastle in January – there are yet to be any offers made for the defender.
