UNBELIEVABLE NEWS;Sunderland announces the departure of striker Nazariy Rusyn
Sunderland striker Nazariy Rusyn in talks over a loan move to Croatian side Hadjuk Split, according to Ihor Burbas.
Sunderland have had an outstanding season so far in the Championship, sitting in 4th place as things stand. SAFC have been one of the surprise packages on the campaign following their disastrous second half of 2023/24.
Despite their success, the Black Cats are still in need of attackers.
Wilson Isidor has had a great start to life on Wearside after signing in the summer and Eliezer Mayenda has stepped up after a poor first year, but the same can not be said for Nazariy Rusyn, who also joined last summer.
According to Ukrainian reporter Ihor Burbas, reporting on Telegram, Rusyn is closing on a loan move away from Sunderland.
Rusyn had already rejected a move to Scotland to join Aberdeen on loan, as per Zorya Londonsk, an outlet ran by Ukrainian journalist Andrew Todos. Now though, he could link up with AC Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso in Split, with talks ongoing over a potential temporary move.
Rusyn has made 10 Championship appearances this campaign, all from the bench. He failed to add to the two goals he scored last season.
Replacing an ex-Sunderland man?
Current Sunderland man Rusyn could be set to replace a former Black Cats player in Leon Dajaku.
Dajaku left Sunderland in 2023 to join Hadjuk. The German failed to live up to expectations on Wearside, much like Rusyn, scoring four goals in 37 appearances. However, he is now set to leave the club and join Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia. Dajaku has made 38 appearances, scoring just four goals.
Dajaku and Rusyn never crossed paths at SAFC with one joining as the other left the club, something which looks bound to happen once again this January.
