SHOCKING REVELATION;Rangers announces the return and resigning of former midfielder

Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo will not be sealing a return to Rangers, according to the Daily Mail.

The news outlet reported on 23 January that with the Nigeria international earning around £70k a week, he won’t be expecting to make anything less than that in what is likely to be the final big contract of his professional career.

Gers are trying to drive down their wage bill and considering younger players, so a reunion with the 28-year-old is not on the cards even though Southampton are open to selling him for the £6million they paid to sign him.

Rangers must not look to re-sign Joe Aribo

It makes sense for Gers not to pursue Aribo’s services despite his past success at Ibrox.

Signing him will show that there is no plan behind the scenes to build a side for the future and they’re going back to tried and trusted names.

It is evident that recruitment is all over the place at the club, but signing Aribo would also mess up their wage structure.

Whether or not the 28-year-old would be open to returning to Ibrox would be another question in itself, as he has played in the Premier League and would want a sideways move, if possible.

Nils Koppen needs to sign players who are undervalued in Europe so as to ensure Gers get good value and also they would need to be long-term options.

Aribo would be a short-term fix and the club would then need to consider replacing him as well in a few years.

Hopefully, there are some quality options being lined up before the transfer window closes as a couple of new signings are needed.

In other Rangers news, an in-depth explanation has emerged on why a Gers player may not be sold in the January transfer window.
