Ex-Man United player snubbed by Erik Ten Hag could now make Old Trafford debut with Rangers
There’s a handful of players who’ve donned the famous blue of Rangers and red of Manchester United over the years.
But whilst the likes of Andrei Kanchelskis, Henning Berg and Amad Diallo have managed to grace the turf at both Old Trafford and Ibrox, it’s a luxury not afforded everyone who’s been on the books at both clubs.
Now, one Rangers hero who came so close to living his boyhood dream at Manchester United could be set to walk out at the Theatre of Dreams in royal blue and not dark red.
It comes with Rangers fans set to make the trip south in their numbers as the club heads to Old Trafford in the Europa League.
Jack Butland returns to Manchester United
Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland spent half a season on loan at Manchester United but never played a professional game for the Red Devils.
A boyhood Manchester United fan, the goalkeeper moved to Old Trafford for six months at the beginning of 2023 but could not depose David de Gea.
Rangers legend John Brown was left stunned when Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag then snubbed the goalie come the end of the season.
Jack Butland then went on to sign for Rangers following the expiration of his contract at Crystal Palace, whilst United turned their attentions to Andre Onana.
Now, the former England international will have a point to prove as Rangers head to Old Trafford in the Europa League this week.
But only if goalie is deemed fit enough to play.
