Sunderland want to sign striker permanently this summer

Sunderland have expressed an interest in making Wilson Isidor’s loan spell a permanent stay on Wearside, as per Alan Nixon.

Sunderland are enjoying a strong season so far and Isidor has been at the heart of a lot of their success. SAFC are firmly in the race for a top six finish this season, and it seems they are already planning for the summer ahead.

Regis Le Bris came into Sunderland last summer and took over a side that finished 16th in the Championship last season. The Frenchman has managed to totally change the narrative with his squad sitting 4th as things stand.

Isidor also joined Sunderland in the summer. The 24-year-old striker made a temporary switch from Zenit to Wearside and since has become a fan favourite in the north east.

In 24 league games so far this season Isidor has managed eight goals and he is arguably the best striker Sunderland have had in a very long time.

Now, Nixon reports Sunderland want to sign their number 18 permanently in the summer. However, he does briefly mention that Isidor’s form has caught the eye of other clubs and Zenit’s asking price may be a stumbling block in the Black Cats’ pursuit.

A smart move

Isidor seems to have enjoyed his time at Sunderland so far this season with his passion and energy on the pitch resonating well with the fanbase at the Stadium of Light.

If Isidor keeps up the output he is giving right now then this will end up being one of his best seasons in a long time and his strong performances will only surely make the player more keen to stay beyond the summer.

Isidor was in the headlines for the wrong reason this weekend as he missed two penalties in ten minutes in a goal-less draw away to Burnley on Friday night.
