Tottenham backed to agree late Milan Skriniar deal
Tottenham could sign PSG defender Milan Skriniar in the January transfer window to help resolve their defensive issues, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke told supporters to “keep an eye on” the centre-back’s situation as he looks likely to leave the French giants this month.
Aston Villa and Galatasaray have also been credited with an interest in the 29-year-old, with clubs made aware of his potential availability.
Spurs’ interest comes during a defensive injury crisis which has seen Archie Gray forced to fill in alongside Radu Dragusin at the back.
Micky van de Ven and Crisitan Romero are both expected to return from injury in January, but the transfer team have looked to identify additional options to provide depth this month.
Skriniar’s availability has now put Tottenham on alert as they look set to explore a late mid-season move for the experienced Slovakia international.
Tottenham plot late January swoop to sign PSG star Milan Skriniar
Skriniar has racked up 77 international appearances in his career, as well as 248 appearances for Inter Milan before his move to PSG where he has struggled to make an impact.
After just five appearances so far this season, and only four starts, the centre-back is keen to make the move away from the Parc des Princes in search of improved playing time.
Tottenham’s efforts in January have so far, and surprisingly, been focused on signing attacking players, but they are expected to move for a centre-back before the end of the window.
The PSG man is one of the names on their radar and has risen towards the top of their list of targets, but remains one of a number of options before the window closes.
