Rangers will accept ‘major offer’ for Cyriel Dessers
Rangers are willing to accept a “major offer” for Cyriel Dessers in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 30-year-old is seen as a “sellable asset” for the Scottish giants.
The striker is seen as someone whose best days are behind him, which is why Philippe Clement’s side are open to offers.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Dessers will not be happy playing second fiddle which has been the case for the majority of this season.
The Nigeria international has only started 11 of 20 Scottish Premiership appearances, with his last start taking place on 29 December.
Dessers has featured 32 times in all competitions for Clement’s team, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists.
Rangers will allow Cyriel Dessers to move on
Dessers has come under heavy criticism at times this season from fans due to not being clinical enough, despite the goals he has been scoring.
Joshua Barrie of Rangers Review has claimed that the Gers have already held preliminary talks with clubs interested in the striker as he edges closer toward an Ibrox exit.
Dessers has been at Rangers since 2023 and has made 86 appearances in that time, scoring 35 goals and providing 13 assists.
The Gers are looking to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window though, especially in midfielder.
Football Insider revealed that the club is “well placed” to sign Luton Town’s Alan Campbell this month.
Tavernier, 33, who hadn’t featured in 2025 before the win over Aberdeen due to injury, also came off the bench in the later stages of the game.
Hamza Igamane opened the scoring after 13 minutes as Rangers capitalised on Aberdeen’s attempt to play out from the back.
Clement pulled the trigger in the final 30 minutes of the game, bringing on the two veteran defenders in the 76th and 79th minutes, respectively.
