Fabrizio Romano has provided a big Celtic transfer update surrounding Kieran Tierney and Alex Valle.

Tierney has long been linked with an emotional Parkhead return this month and his arrival could be linked with the young Spaniard moving to Italy.

The 27-year-old joined Arsenal in 2019 for a then-record £25m fee, although he has since fallen out of favour.

The defender has made just two appearances for the Gunners this season and hasn’t renewed his contract, which expires at the end of the current campaign.

He has already been touted for a return to Parkhead and a resultant reunion with Brendan Rodgers, and this afternoon, renowned transfer guru Fabrizio Romano provided a key update on a potential move. He took to X, simply stating, ‘Celtic and Kieran Tierney, deal on’.

Tierney would undoubtedly strengthen Celtic’s backline, although they could potentially lose Valle.

The Spaniard only joined the Scottish Premiership champions from Barcelona last summer, although Serie A side Como are in negotiations to sign him on loan from the Catalan giants, a move which would resultantly end his time in green and white.

Tierney’s return to Celtic can ‘open doors’ for Valle, who looks set to depart amid ‘strong interest’ from Italy.

The wheels are very much in motion for Parkhead club to make their first big dealings of the January window.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring the 27-year-old back to the Scottish Premiership champions, and talks between the Hoops, Arsenal and Tierney’s representatives have been underway for some time now.

Tierney is believed to have rejected moves to other teams, such as West Ham United, in favour of returning to his boyhood club.

However, before any such transfer is sealed, with Arsenal willing to let him go to free up his wages, he has tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle to think about.
