UNBELIEVABLE NEWS;Everton confirm signing Wayne Rooney as David Moyes replacement
Martin Allen believes Wayne Rooney would be a positive addition to the coaching staff under David Moyes if he is named as Everton manager.
The 61-year-old looks set to take over from Sean Dyche at Goodison after he agreed to begin a second stint in charge of the Toffees [Graeme Bailey].
Given that Leighton Baines took over against Peterborough United, the former West Ham boss will need a new coaching team behind him.
Former Leicester City manager Allen has suggested that ex-Everton star Rooney could be a useful addition to his staff after being sacked by Plymouth Argyle.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Allen said: “Wayne Rooney has shown a great attitude to put himself in the firing line by putting himself in difficult jobs.
“He’s been brave enough to take on that responsibility and I would say from David Moyes’ point of view he could be a great asset to have.
Wayne Rooney could join David Moyes at Everton
The Englishman has had a tough time in management, failing to impress before being sacked by Birmingham City and Plymouth in the past year.
A role on the coaching staff of his boyhood club with his former manager could reignite his managerial career and hand the Toffees a much-needed boost.
It is unclear whether Moyes would welcome his former player onto his coaching staff or if Rooney would want the role but there is no doubt that supporters on Merseyside would be delighted if this move happened.
Nuamah could follow Jake O’Brien and Orel Mangala as a third player signed for Everton from Lyon so far this season, having been monitored for a significant time by the Merseysiders.
Hawkins shared: “Everton are reportedly keen to sign Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah and could make an offer soon.
