I will not play again:Mergim Berisha rejected playing for Leeds and decided to quit due to…
Leeds United could seal a long-term loan to sign Hoffenheim striker Mergim Berisha, according to Ben Heckner.
The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported on X that the Whites could sign the German international on an 18-month loan deal with an option to make it permanent.
With Patrick Bamford injured and Joel Piroe also struggling with an issue, it would be no surprise to see Daniel Farke enter the market before 3 February.
Leeds United to seal Mergim Berisha transfer
Although early links were played down at Elland Road, with updates now emerging from Germany, this one may have legs.
Farke admitted that he isn’t worried about his squad right now, but with his rivals making signings of their own, he could open the door as the month goes on.
Berisha is seasoned in the Bundesliga and earning a Germany cap isn’t a fluke.
This type of deal with a long-term loan suggested is something that Victor Orta would have loved, but it does give Leeds security if they go down that route.
Firing on all cylinders in the Championship would prepare Berisha well for the Premier League if he is to help with the promotion push, but then you have to do it at the highest level.
If he was to fail in that task, the Whites could then back out of any permanent deal.
With differing reports emerging closer to home, this is certainly one to watch as January continues to tick along with little transfer action.
Leeds United need to move on from James McAtee
At £40million, Leeds’ chances of signing McAtee from City are virtually nonexistent, primarily due to financial constraints and the competitive nature of the transfer market.
Even if the price were lower, the Whites would still find it challenging to secure the 22-year-old’s signature.
