SHOCKING NEWS;Ally McCoist expects 54-y/o boss linked with Rangers job to be back in management imminently
Rangers fans want a change of manager after Russell Martin’s woeful start, and several options have been mooted.
Martin currently has Rangers in 11th place after five winless games in the Scottish Premiership, and there have been protests calling for his dismissal.
The Rangers board has given Martin their backing, but if the poor form continues, they may find they have no choice but to dismiss the manager.
Sean Dyche is one of the names constantly linked with Rangers as a possible replacement, with the former Everton boss currently out of work.
Ally McCoist makes Sean Dyche to Rangers claim
Dyche was dismissed by Everton last year after a dismal run of form, but he has a strong track record in English football.
The Englishman helped Burnley qualify for European football after taking them up from the Championship, and also saved Everton from relegation.
- Dyche is an ‘old-school’ manager who plays an aggressive, and often defensive brand of football.
- The manager was branded as too negative at times at Everton, with the 54-year-old prioritising results over performances.
Dyche and Steven Gerrard have both been mooted as Martin replacements, and it now appears that the former could be closing in on a return to the dugout.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Rangers legend Ally McCoist claimed that Dyche could be back in management very soon, adding that he’d heard the recent murmurs of the Englishman being linked with the Gers hotseat.
“I think it’s only a matter of time, you not think so? He’ll get back in,” McCoist stated of Dyche’s future management prospects.
“He was actually getting mentioned for the Rangers job as well. He’ll get back in soon.”
