DONE DEAL;West Ham United has officially finalise agreed terms on appointing Nuno Espirito Santo as Graham Potter’s successor

West Ham United are getting closer to appointing Nuno Espirito Santo as Graham Potter’s successor, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The London Stadium side are reportedly looking to make a change in the dugout amid their dire start to the season, with the club sitting second-bottom in the Premier League table with one victory in five games.

Potter’s future has been the subject of heavy speculation in recent weeks, with West Ham believed to be evaluating several potential candidates to replace the former Brighton and Chelsea tactician.

The 50-year-old took charge of the Hammers in January 2025 but has seen disappointing results since, winning just six of his 25 matches in charge, averaging 0.92 points per game.

Potter has yet to win a Premier League home game since West Ham’s 2-0 victory over Leicester in February, with his only win of the 2025/26 campaign coming away at Nottingham Forest.

West Ham Closer to Appointing Nuno Espirito Santo

According to Nixon, West Ham are getting closer to appointing Espirito Santo as Potter’s successor following their poor start to the Premier League campaign:

Espirito Santo was dismissed as Nottingham Forest boss earlier this month, just three games into the season and less than three months after the club handed him a new three-year contract.

He took charge at the City Ground in December 2023, following previous stints at Rio Ave, Valencia, Porto, Wolves, Tottenham and Al-Ittihad, and guided the club to safety in his first season, with Forest finishing 17th, six points clear of relegation.

The ‘incredible’ Portuguese tactician oversaw Forest’s seventh-place Premier League finish last term, with the club securing European football for the first time since the 1995/96 season.

Doubts over Espirito Santo’s future surfaced in August when he admitted he was ‘not close’ to Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and that their ‘relationship has changed’.
