Just in: Fabrizio Romano says ‘outstanding’ Everton star has signed new deal after Keane and Branthwaite
Idrissa Gana Gueye has committed his future to Everton by signing a new two-year deal with the club.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the 35-year-old has penned a new contract and will remain part of David Moyes’ squad ahead of their new era at Hill Dickinson Stadium. He impressed under the Scot last season and is the latest to extend their stay with the Merseysiders.
Jarrad Branthwaite signed a new five-year deal last week as the Toffees managed to stave off interest from the likes of Manchester United for the English defender. Michael Keane also penned a new one-year deal and the club have ensured Gueye follows suit.
Romano Confirms New Gueye Deal
Gueye’s previous deal had expired on June 30 but both the player and the club were keen on a contract renewal. The Senegalese midfielder is in his second spell with the Toffees after returning in the summer of 2022 for around £2m.
Romano confirmed the news with a post on his X account:
Gueye, dubbed “outstanding”, was a mainstay in the Everton side that finished 13th in the Premier League last season, producing several standout displays in the middle of the park. He earned a glowing verdict from Moyes, who said he’d “surprised” him and that he’s done “fantastically well”.
The 113-cap Senegal international first joined the Toffees from Aston Villa back in 2016 for around £7.1m and he became a fan favourite at Goodison Park. He left for PSG in 2019 but returned on deadline day in 2022, as he felt he was back “home”.
