DONE DEAL;Everton future as bright as ever as agreement reached with record-breaking Loney

Everton are looking to the future after finally tying up key players to new contracts.

Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane and Jarrad Branthwaite have all penned new deals, while Idrissa Gueye is expected to follow suit shortly.

The Toffees will now be expected to build on this good news with some new signings before the Premier League season begins.

Ceiran Loney signs first professional contract

Everton have had a new player sign a professional contract, although it’s not a new signing.

On Saturday (5 July), Ceiran Loney signed his first-ever professional contract at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Loney, 17, signed from Patrick Thistle last summer but was allowed to develop in the academy team.

The young striker made 12 appearances for the under-18s last season and has shown great promise.

After signing the contract, Loney said: “I’m buzzing – I think it’s a big achievement for me in my football career so far. It’s something that you dream of when you’re young, so it’s good to see that the hard work is paying off.”

Loney became a record breaker when becoming Partick Thistle’s youngest ever player when he made his debut for them, aged 16 years and 17 days old last year.

He’ll now be training with the Everton first team after signing a pro contract that’ll keep him in Merseyside until June 2027.

Everton are in desperate need of strikers

Loney won’t be expected to break into the first team straight away, although Everton are in desperate need of strikers.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin chose not to sign a new contract and has been allowed to leave as a free agent. That leaves Everton noticeably short of centre-forwards as the new season approaches.

It will surely be a priority for David Moyes to recruit two or three top-class strikers before the first game against Leeds on 11 August
