DONE DEAL;Josh Mulligan has solely accepted joining Rangers club after confirming completed medicals

Dundee United’s Josh Mulligan has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers.

Following the arrivals of Max Aarons and Lyall Cameron, Rangers have started their summer transfer business under Russell Martin, though there is still a remarkable amount of work to be done between now and the start of the season.

That amount of work has only been amplified by the news that Hamza Igamane has agreed terms for a summer exit from Ibrox, with attacking reinforcements now the next priority to address for the Light Blues.

However, as of yet, there have been very few attacking players linked with a move to Glasgow, and instead, a lot of the focus has been on arrivals elsewhere, including that of Dundee FC’s Mulligan.

Hibernian set to beat Rangers to Mulligan addition

At one point, it seemed almost nailed on that Mulligan would become a Rangers player this summer, though the latest update suggests otherwise.

Via the Scottish Sun (25 June), Mulligan now appears set for a move to Hibernian, missing out on the opportunity of linking back up with his former teammate Cameron at Ibrox.

With the Light Blues set to miss out on his signing, it seems as though Rangers have put a plan in place, and it appears to be one that will see them pursue other additions to cover the same area of the pitch.

Mulligan was typically deployed as a holding midfielder last season, though his versatility sees him feature in a series of different positions, with Hibs looking likely to be the club to benefit from that.

The 22-year-old Scottish youth international will undergo a medical at Easter Road before signing off on the finishing touches of his move.

Competing with Celtic will be the goal next season.
