Everton well placed to agree David Moyes-type deal – I like this signing’

Everton are set to address a major problem in their squad, if their proposed move for Kenny Tete is confirmed.

The full-back has been at Fulham since 2020 and helped them to gain promotion back to the Premier League during his second campaign at the club.

Last season, the 29-year-old started just 21 Premier League games for Marco Silva’s side as a result of missing four months with a knee injury.

With his contract at Craven Cottage running out at the end of June, Tete is now set to join Everton on a free transfer.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insists that it is a good bit of business from his former club.

‘Tete better than Walker for Everton’, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that he is more positive towards the signing of Tete than any potential move for Kyle Walker.

With his Manchester City future in doubt, Walker has been linked with Everton this summer, but it now seems as if the Toffees have set their sights elsewhere.

Wyness added that despite not being a long-term solution, the addition of Tete would bring some much-needed experience to David Moyes’ side.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I was relieved to see somebody under 30, even though it’s only 29, at least it helps the age profile of the squad.

“Joking aside, I think he’s a very talented player, very good defensively, very good in the tackle.

“I think he’d be a Moyes-type player. I quite like the signing. I think he’s going to be a free agent, so I think it’s got a lot going for it.
