
Wrexham working to agree Tom Lawrence deal after Rangers exit’
Wrexham are working on a move to bring Tom Lawrence to The Racecourse as he is set to leave Rangers on a free transfer.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 31-year-old could still play a key role in a Championship side.
Wrexham are not thought to be the only club in for Lawrence, but are prepared offer the Wales international the chance to play for his hometown club.
Football Insider revealed on 21 May that Rangers were happy to let Lawrence leave as part of a major cut which saw them save more than £4million on their wage bill.
As a result, he is preparing to field offers from a number of EFL clubs in the coming weeks and Wrexham are hopeful they can make a compelling offer.
The Red Dragons are keen to utilise the free agent market following their promotion from League One, and have been linked with the likes of Jamie Vardy and Ben Davies.

Football Insider first revealed in April that Lawrence would be allowed to leave Rangers, placing a number of clubs on alert as Gers lined up replacements.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that Lawrence believes he can still make a difference for a top Championship side and will explore his options.
“Tom Lawrence has always been a decent player,” he told Football Insider.
