DEAL DONE;Mateo Joseph Agrees Two Year Contract Extension with Leeds United Amid Aston Villa Interest
This summer is make or break for some Leeds United players. With the Premier League around the corner, Daniel Farke has some serious decisions to make.
Three players have already had their future decided. Darko Gyabi, Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt are all available for sale this summer; with Leeds expecting some profit. Sam Byram and Junior Firpo are yet to decide their future – Firpo is reportedly set to leave this summer.
Other players at the club could be moved on as Leeds create space for new arrivals.
The Whites have a huge decision on their hands this summer. Mateo Joseph is attracting serious interest from clubs, and there are rumours that he could leave.
Joseph, who is with Spain at the U21 Euros, dropped a huge hint speaking to AS:
“We achieved our goal as a team, but I personally want to be more involved in the final stretch of the season. I think I need more participation to continue developing as a player,”
“The season has just ended, and we have to stop and evaluate. We’ve been promoted to the Premier League. We’ll see what the club says, but I want to play more to continue growing.”
Leeds should consider keeping Joseph
Mateo Joseph is too good for Leeds to let him go this summer. The forward just has not gotten a chance for consistent games in the first team. But big European clubs have seen his talent, so the Whites need to make him a priority next season. The Lukas Nmecha arrival will only complicate things; Joseph could push to leave, but Leeds should try to keep him.
Even in limited minutes last season, he managed to be productive. Whenever he plays, he is a threat. At just 21-years old, he has time to develop.
