Rangers FC and Peterborough United has both accepted contract terms over dream player
Rangers’ pursuit of Peterborough United talent Kwame Poku is heating up.
Rangers have been keeping tabs on the Peterborough striker for some time, and look to set to sign him in the coming days.
Poku’s Peterborough contract is set to expire at the end of June, but compensation will be due as per the rules for players under 24 years old.
Fee for Poku transfer revealed
There has been a lot of excitement surrounding Poku’s transfer to Rangers among Scottish pundits, and this anticipation could reach fever pitch now that the tribunal fee has been estimated.
According to The Scottish Sun (20 June), Rangers will have to pay around £350,000 to land the winger.
That’s a minuscule fee considering the form that Poku has shown over the last couple of years. Russell Martin would be delighted with that figure if it turns out to be accurate.
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson manager has been resigned to losing his star player for some time.
In an interview with the Peterborough Telegraph back in November, Ferguson called Poku “unplayable” and admitted it would be tough to keep hold of him.
The Posh had received offers for Poku last summer, but felt it was the right decision to hold onto him, even if it ultimately meant losing him for a nominal fee.
New-look Rangers team beginning to take shape
Martin will be given a large transfer kitty to build a team in his own image this summer, and supporters are beginning to get a clearer idea of what that Rangers team could look like.
Former Leicester defender Conor Coady looks set to arrive within the next few days, as does Poku.
Max Aarons could also be arriving on a free transfer, while the Gers have already recruited Lyall Cameron, who signed a pre-contract agreement earlier this year.
