Leeds United have ‘asked’ about signing Real Betis player, potential Mateo Joseph swap deal

Real Betis continue to be linked to Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph in the summer transfer window, following January interest in the attacker.

Leeds United have been told that Real Betis are planning for Joseph talks later this month following the conclusion of the U-21 European Championships in Slovakia.

It’s previously been reported that Leeds value Joseph at around £12.75 million and there have been other reports stating the valuations are miles apart as Betis want a Joseph deal worth £6.75 million but with a 20% clause.

That comes after Betis reportedly offered £10 million to Leeds for Joseph in January. However, the latest reports perhaps detail the possibility of something of a player swap for the two clubs.

Leeds United eye move for Real Betis defender Natan as Betis monitor Mateo Joseph

Joseph’s comments have irked Leeds fans today, which is timely in some ways due to the latest transfer rumour involving Leeds and Betis.

Napoli loaned Brazilian defender Natan to Real Betis last summer with an option to buy. Just a few weeks ago, the club announced they exercised the €9 million buy option to make the transfer permanent this summer.

The versatile 24-year-old is predominantly a central defender but can operate as a left-back and ESPN have revealed Leeds’ interest in Natan.

They state: “Betis defender Natan is also being linked with a move, as Leeds United have asked about him.

“But Leeds recently finalised the signing of Jaka Bijol from Udinese and the Brazilian defender wants to stay in Sevilla.”

It could mean some convincing is needed if Leeds’ interest firms up, especially as he can be utilised as either a left-sided centre-back or left-back.

Despite signing permanent terms this summer until 2030, it’s possible that Betis could be open to selling Natan if they can make a significant profit.
