Nottingham Forest contract decision confirmed as deal agreed

Latest Nottingham Forest news as Reds tie down defender to new contract at the City Ground

Defender Willy Boly has put pen to paper on a new deal for Nottingham Forest, the club have confirmed.

The centre-back was due to be out of contract at the end of this month but the Reds had offered him the opportunity to extend his stay. Boly has now signed fresh terms at the City Ground to keep him at the club until 2026.

The 34-year-old told the official website: “I am very happy to have signed a new contract with the club and look forward to another season with such a great team and supporters. We need to build on what was a great season and I am excited to see what we can achieve as a squad this year.”

Boly joined Forest from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2022. He has made 45 appearances in the Garibaldi since then, including nine last season as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side finished seventh in the Premier League.

With European football on the cards in 2025/26, ensuring the Reds head coach has a sufficiently deep squad is a priority for the club. Competing in the Conference League will bring additional games, while Forest will also be keen to push on again in the Premier League.

Chief football officer Ross Wilson said of Boly’s new deal: “Willy is an experienced Premier League player who adds a lot of value to our squad, and we are pleased he has signed a new deal. An extremely dedicated professional, Willy has played at the highest level for a long time and he contributed significantly to the team’s successful season last year.

He is passionate about winning football matches, and with his leadership qualities and ability to speak multiple languages, he connects the group and helps those around him.
