Rangers ‘new transfer ploy clear to see’ as ambitious Demircan offer made

Rangers are aiming to add to their attack this summer, and have already attempted to make a very ambitious long-term signing.

Russell Martin will hope to be backed in the transfer market for signings who can make both an immediate impact as well as holding long-term value.

Rangers want to strengthen their front line, and with both Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane linked with exits, several attackers across a variety of positions

It has now emerged that Bayern Munich sensation Emirhan Demircan was a target for Rangers, but a move is now off the cards.

Rangers rejected by Demircan

Demircan is a winger for Bayern Munich’s second team, and was one of their top scorers this season as he was targeted for a move to the Scottish Premiership.

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Thursday (12 June) that Demircan is set to join FC Utrecht from Bayern this summer, and rejected several offers ahead of his move on a free transfer, including from Rangers.

Offers also came in from Hoffenheim and Besiktas, but the 20-year-old has elected to move to the Netherlands to join Utrecht.

Demircan was yet to make a senior appearance for Bayern, but registered 11 goals and assists in 22 games for Bayern Munich II.

Rangers wanted Vaclav Cerny replacement

Vaclav Cerny was one of Rangers’ best performers this season, but the loanee will not return to Glasgow as things stand.

Demircan may have been seen as a replacement for Cerny, as a winger who could play comfortably on either side.

Rangers’ transfer plans are starting to become clearer, with young talents from top clubs and academies targeted, and an attacker such as Demircan may have arrived as both an immediate first-team player, as well as someone who would hold huge resale value in the future.
