TERMS ACCEPTED;Cesc Fabregas has agreed to sign Leeds United ‘target’ for £21m fee

Leeds United have been linked with a move to sign Dinamo Zagreb attacking midfielder Martin Baturina since last summer, but the 22-year-old is instead heading to the Serie A.

There are few positions in the current Leeds lineup that won’t need addressing when the window re-opens next Monday, and one of the priorities should be an attacking midfielder.

Leeds have the opportunity to make a real statement in that area of the pitch, knowing how important a crucial playmaker could be to their chances of staying in the Premier League.

Leeds United’s long-term interest in Martin Baturina dashed by Como transfer agreement

Back in August 2024, Leeds’ search for a ‘number 10’ again ended in vain with no new signings to provide competition for Brenden Aaronson.

Reports from Croatia did claim Leeds had tabled a £25million bid for Dinamo Zagreb talent Martin Baturina, but nothing eventually came of it as Daniel Farke settled with his current crop.

This summer was always bound to see Baturina looking at a move, having enjoyed another stellar campaign with six goals and 12 assists, plus standout displays in the Champions League too.

However, it won’t be Leeds that are signing the attacking midfielder, with Croatian outlet Index.hr sharing that Cesc Fabregas’ ambitious Como 1907 side in the Serie A have agreed a deal to sign Baturina.

The deal will see Como pay an €18million (£15.25million) fee to land him with a further £6million in add-ons, plus a 15% sell-on clause.

Leeds United could live to regret missing out on Martin Baturina signing.

It has to be said that Baturina to Fabregas’ Como looks a superb transfer for all involved, but it’s a missed opportunity for Leeds.

At that price, Leeds would be getting a readymade attacking midfielder to take a lot of responsibility in this side, improving a crucial component of their side.
