DONE DEAL;Porto want to sign Nicolas Raskin after new Rangers exit developments
Nicolas Raskin was Rangers’ best player this season, but they are in danger of losing him.
Rangers endured a woeful campaign, with the Belgian a shining light and one of, if not the best, midfielder in Scottish football.
Raskin came off the bench as Belgium recorded a dramatic 4-3 victory over Wales in a World Cup qualifier on Friday, and is starting to earn admirers outside of Scotland.
Portuguese giants Porto are now keen on the midfielder, and Raskin could end up being sold this summer despite being a fan favourite.
Raskin hits ‘peak value’ as Porto register transfer interest
Raskin has been outstanding for Rangers, but could end up leaving Ibrox this summer, given the level of interest in him.
Russell Martin will be backed in the transfer market, but a big fee for any player, including Raskin, would be too good to turn down.
Rangers Review (10 June) have now reported that while Premier League sides are interested in Raskin, Porto have been keen on him since January.
It is claimed that with Raskin now 25 and in the best form of his career, his transfer value may never be higher at Rangers, and this could mean that an exit for a hefty fee is a possibility this summer.
Rangers must listen to offers for any player
Despite the takeover from a consortium led by Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers Enterprises, the reality for Rangers is that they must listen to any big offer that comes their way for their players, and Raskin is included in this.
If Porto offer a sizeable fee, that can be reinvested into strengthening the entire team, with a huge squad rebuild necessary this summer.
If Rangers turn down big money for Raskin, and he fails to hit his best form or picks up an injury next season, this could cause a significant financial disadvantage.
