DONE DEAL;West Ham can finally ‘seal Marko Arnautovic return’ as transfer revelation drops
West Ham have had little luck when it comes to signing attackers over the years, but one success story was Marko Arnautovic.
Arnautovic became a fan favourite at the London Stadium as he exploded into a prolific centre-forward, before moving to China in 2019.
The Austrian has since returned to Europe and has enjoyed a successful spell at Inter Milan, winning the Serie A title last season and reaching the Champions League final.
He could now return to one of his other clubs as West Ham made a reunion offer at the start of the year, and they now have the opportunity to bring him back.
Arnautovic confirms Inter Milan exit
Arnautovic has now confirmed that he will leave Inter Milan this summer once his contract expires, and this could put Graham Potter on high alert.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italy, the 36-year-old confirmed he will be departing San Siro this summer and moving on from his second spell at Inter.
“My time at Inter is over. I won’t be there any more. I wish Chivu all the best, and I believe that next season they will be champions,” he stated.
Arnautovic played a backup role at Inter this season, making 28 appearances but just nine of those came from the start, while he netted seven goals in that time.
West Ham could re-sign Arnautovic for depth
West Ham need both depth and quality upfront, as they ended the season with Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen leading the line rather than a natural centre-forward.
Michail Antonio could follow Danny Ings out of the exit door, while Niclas Fullkrug’s disappointing campaign could also put him on the transfer list.
Although West Ham want younger options, if they do lose four centre-forwards over the summer, Arnautovic could be a useful signing on a low wage if he is keen on a return to the London Stadium.
