Nottingham Forest has announced renewal of contract and return of former Ex-player to club next season

Nottingham Forest have upset the odds in the Premier League this season.

The Reds fell just short of qualifying for the Champions League in the end, but Nuno Espirito Santo took Forest on an incredible ride.

Forest have been excellent this season, and many of their players have shown a marked improvement this term.

Matz Sels has been incredible in goal, while Morgan Gibbs-White has earned huge praise for his performances this season.

Speaking on the Forest Focus Podcast, former Reds star, Lewis McGugan has been asked to name who he thinks has been the most improved player at the City Ground this season, and he’s given a rather interesting answer.

Neco Williams named as Nottingham Forest’s most improved player

McGugan shared who he believes has been Nottingham Forest’s most improved player this season.

The likes of Chris Wood and Anthony Elanga have massively stepped up this season, but according to McGugan, Neco Williams is the most improved player at Forest this year.

“So I look at most improved. You probably look at Neco in terms, I think it’s not that he’s performed poorly before, but when he came back in the team, I think he went to another level. So I think his improvement kind of that back end of the season has been a standout,” McGugan said.

Neco Williams’ stats compared to last season

Neco Williams has been much improved this season, that much is obvious to everyone.

However, the stats here do make for interesting reading.

Indeed, Williams hasn’t improved massively on the stats sheet, and this is a good example of how numbers don’t always tell the full story in football.

Looking at those stats, you’d be tempted to suggest that Williams has gone backwards this season, but when you watch his performances, you can tell he’s stepped up.
