Leeds United are showing interest in a summer move for Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has revealed.

The Brazilian-born playmaker is expected to depart Bramall Lane following an unsuccessful push for Premier League promotion and has no shortage of suitors in the English top flight.

Both Leeds and Everton are claimed to be interested in the Championship Player of the Season, who was linked with a move to Elland Road almost 12 months ago.

The ‘unbelievable’ 27-year-old, who joined Sheffield United from Coventry in the summer of 2023, has just over two years left on his contract, running until June 2027.

Leeds Eyeing Move for Gustav Hamer

According to Crook, Sheffield United are resigned to losing Hamer following their promotion play-off heartbreak, with his stock rising sharply after an impressive Championship campaign.

The former Netherlands U20 international scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 41 league appearances this term, and registered a further two goal contributions in the play-offs.

He was voted Championship Player of the Season as a result, following in the footsteps of current and former Premier League players Crysencio Summerville, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Chuba Akpom.

Leeds are anticipating a busy summer market following their Premier League promotion and are believed to be targeting experienced names to boost their survival chances next season.

While they retain interest in former Elland Road star Kalvin Phillips, the Whites have also recently enquired about out-of-contract West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal.

Leeds are believed to be among the clubs monitoring the Czech international, who will be departing the London Stadium after five seasons of service next month.
