Director says ‘complete’ £25m striker is free to leave this summer amid Leeds interest
Leeds United have a busy summer on the transfer front as they look to strengthen their ranks after promotion to the Premier League.
The Whites will be eager to get their transfer activity spot on this summer in hope of giving themselves a fighting chance of staying up.
Leeds United are likely to be after a goalkeeper, a striker, a No.10 and potentially some reinforcements at the back.
Now, the director of a club who counts a Leeds target among their players has just confirmed that said player is free to seek a move away this summer.
Arnaud Kalimuendo free to move this summer amid Leeds interest
TBR Football recently confirmed that Leeds have rekindled their interest in Arnaud Kalimuendo, a player who they came close to signing in 2022.
Leeds were close to striking a deal for Kalimuendo three years ago, but he ended up joining Rennes for around £21million.
Three years on, and Kalimuendo is an established 23-year-old forward with three full seasons of regular first-team football for Rennes.
However, with his contract expiring in 2027, it looks as though his club is happy to cash in on him.
Rennes president Arnaud Pouille confirmed that Kalimuendo has been granted permission to hold talks with other clubs.
“He is one of the players who had a lot of contacts in January,” Pouille said, as per L’Equipe. “We have authorised him to speak with other clubs.”
Rennes are reportedly hoping to negotiate a fee of over €30million (£25million) for Kalimuendo, which would see them make a profit on their initial outlay.
Other players on Leeds United radar
Kalimuendo has gone from strength to strength at Rennes, developing into a striker who former coach Bruno Genesio deemed a “complete attacker”.
