Everton want to sign Castellanos with Didier Drogba-like transfer on cards
Everton are set for a busy summer in the transfer market, with changes galore ahead on Merseyside.
The Friedkin Group are set to back David Moyes to bring in the required quality as the Scotsman chases success in his full season back in the Blues’ dugout.
One area of the squad that is in desperate need of reinforcement is the attack, with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto not providing enough firepower.
There could be a new number nine leading Everton to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton enter Castellanos chase as asking price revealed
Moyes is searching for strikers to fill the goalscoring void in his squad ahead of the new campaign, and Lazio star Valentin Castellanos fits the bill.
Caught Offside has reported on 19 May that the 26-year-old would command a fee around £25-30million, and has been compared to Didier Drogba.
It states that the Blues believe that the Argentine forward could make a “significant impact” with his “intelligence and finishing skills”, but they will face competition from West Ham and Wolves for his services.
Castellanos would be a great fit for Everton
Given the fact that Calvert-Lewin could leave the Toffees on the expiry of his contract with no new deal agreed upon, and Beto is attracting interest from newly-promoted Leeds United, a deal for Castellanos makes sense.
The Argentina international has notched 14 goals and eight assists in 39 appearances this season and would be a real asset for the Blues if they can seal a deal ahead of their rivals.
The former New York City FC man has the tools to thrive in the English game with excellent physical and technical abilities and could relieve Moyes’ problems in the final third, which would be a welcome addition.
