‘Time for me to say goodbye’… Everton target confirms he’s leaving as David Moyes lines up contract offer
Everton’s recruitment team have been drawing up a list of targets ahead of the summer transfer window opening at the start of June.
David Moyes has admitted there’s a lot of work to do with so many first-teamers out of contract at the end of the season.
“It’s a situation you don’t see very often,” the Everton boss explained. “I’m not saying there’s not 10 or 11 players out of contract at other clubs, but we’ve got five on loan, so we’ve got to give those players back unless we’re going to buy them.
“So it’s an unprecedented situation I see when I’ve come in. Do I really want a huge overhaul? Probably not.”
It’s not Moyes’ preferred position, but it gives the club a chance to recruit in their new model, which will involve signing younger talent.
The Friedkin Group want to drive down Everton’s average age, and with that said, it seems they’re one step closer to signing a talented midfielder on the continent.
Everton target Angel Gomes announces he’s leaving Lille
Everton have been chasing Angel Gomes for months and tried to sign him during the January transfer window.
Ultimately, a deal failed to materialise, but now Angel Gomes has just announced that he will be leaving Lille this summer, with his contract due to expire.
“After four unforgettable years at LOSC Lille, it’s time for me to say goodbye,” Gomes wrote on his Instagram. “This club has been more than just a team — it’s been a family, a home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch. Like any journey, there were ups and downs, highs and lows, but I’m truly grateful to my teammates and the fans for sticking with me throughout.
