Chris Sutton’s witty reaction to Barry Ferguson’s Rangers exit with big Celtic question

Celtic’s success has seen off another Rangers manager in Barry Ferguson.

Admittedly, Ferguson was only in temporary charge at Ibrox but he made no secret of the fact that he would love to have got the job on a permanent basis to take a crack at ending Celtic’s success.

With Celtic on the brink of another treble, Rangers are in search for their sixth manager in seven years as the Ibrox club struggle to keep up with the Parkhead club’s power both on and off the park.

But as the news broke of Ferguson’s Rangers departure last night, Chris Sutton reacted to the news with his usual aplomb and with a big question about Celtic the Ibrox support will dread.

Chris Sutton asks ‘how many years’ will it take Rangers to catch Celtic

Sutton is known for his ability to wind up Celtic’s rivals with his quick-witted nature on social media and on Sky Sports.

However, as he attempted to get a rise on social media, it was the question about Celtic he delivered on his BBC platform that will strike a chord with both the Parkhead support and the Rangers fans.

Firstly, taking to X, Sutton said, “No more Bazball at Ibrox next season…”

But Sutton didn’t stop there. On BBC 606 he asked a question about catching Celtic most Rangers fans dread.

Sutton continued, “Well, there is no more Bazball next season. Who do you want in charge, Rangers fans?

“How many years is it going to take you to try and reel Celtic in?”

And that is the question. Celtic’s trophy success over the last 25 years is scary as Brendan Rodgers looks to wrap up the club’s ninth treble in their history, Sutton is bang on.

How long will Celtic remain unchallenged in Scotland?
