Departed Celtic youth star dubbed ‘tactically astute’ after signing new contract at Champions League club

Celtic can only wield their power and showcase their true might to a certain extent.

It’s clear to all that Celtic are Scotland’s most successful club and the biggest in their country, but money talks a lot in today’s game.

Unfortunately, that’s where Celtic come short, because they don’t have the financial power the Billion-pound machine, the English Premier League can generate.

That’s why the Scottish champions lose their star players as soon as a healthy amount of money is put on the table, such as Matt O’Riley joining Brighton for £25 million.

But whilst the senior players are lured away by the Premier League, and its financial power, the same happens to the Celtic youth stars coming through.

Aidan Borland dubbed ‘tactically astute’ after signing new Aston Villa contract following Celtic exit

Aidan Borland is having the time of his life after leaving Celtic for Aston Villa in 2024 – where he spent two years at Celtic Park.

The 18-year-old recently captained Aston Villa to FA Youth Cup final glory when they beat Manchester City in the final.

Borland’s rewards continue because he has now penned a new deal at Villa, who played Celtic in the Champions League this season, and he has been lauded by his Academy manager Mark Harrison, as posted by Villa’s website.

“We are delighted to see Aidan sign a new long-term contract,” stated Harrison. “This is well deserved and a recognition of his development since he joined us. Aidan is an intelligent central midfield player who is technically proficient and tactically astute.

“He has been a regular in our under-21s and under-19 UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup teams, captaining on many occasions, which is a reflection of his leadership skills and maturity on and off the pitch. He has also represented Scotland at under-19 international level this season.”
