GOOD NEWS;West Ham make move to sign James McAtee as £25m Man City exit news emerges

West Ham are set to step up their pursuit of Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.

The Hammers’ interest in the 22-year-old is well-documented and Graham Potter is keen to add some creativity to his side.

The ex-Brighton manager needs a huge summer overhaul as the squad that he inherited from Julen Lopetegui has underwhelmed since he was appointed in January.

Man City ready to sell McAtee for £25m

The London Stadium outfit are set for a busy summer window and McAtee could be a great first piece of business.

A report from the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (11 May, page 64) claims that the Irons are among a dozen clubs that have made an approach to sign the England Under-21 star.

It states that the 22-year-old is valued at £25million but the likes of Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Crystal Palace and Bayer Leverkusen have also made enquiries.

McAtee would be great addition for West Ham

The engine room is set for a major revamp as Potter moulds the squad in his own style after a miserable start to his reign in East London, in which the former Chelsea man has won just three matches.

The Hammers are not expected to make Carlos Soler’s loan into a permanent deal, Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez could depart and Lucas Paqueta faces an uncertain future.

The Brazilian midfielder is usually the creative spark for the Irons but he could be handed a lifetime ban if he is found guilty of betting offences in an FA hearing that is set to conclude in the next few weeks.

McAtee is looking for regular football, having been handed just three starts in the Premier League for the Citizens this season and the Hammers could offer first-team stardom like what Cole Palmer achieved after moving away from the Etihad Stadium.
