DONE DEAL;Everton goalkeeper rejected leaving Club and reveals signing new contract deal with club
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford wants to sign a new deal and end his career with the Merseyside club, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Pickford has been one of Everton’s most consistent and reliable players over the last few years, playing a crucial role in helping them stay in the Premier League. The England international has been between the sticks since 2017 and last signed a new contract two years ago.
With Pickford’s deal only having two years remaining in the summer, the Toffees will have to consider offering him a new contract or risk losing him for nothing. Considering the performances he’s produced in an Everton shirt, it would be silly to not give him a new deal.
Pickford Wants New Everton Deal
According to a report from journalist Nixon, Pickford wants a new deal with the Toffees and is willing to end his career at the Merseyside club. The English goalkeeper is looking for a pay rise and extension and is hopeful that talks can go positively, with his current deal having two years remaining.
Pickford, described as ‘outstanding’ by Nixon, currently earns around £125,000-a-week at Goodison Park. Although one of Everton’s biggest earners, it would cost an awful lot of money to replace him with someone as consistent and reliable as England’s number one goalkeeper.
The Toffees are preparing to enter a new era under The Friedkin Group, and they’ll likely be desperate for Pickford to lead them into the new stadium as their number one. Although reinforcements will be crucial for Everton heading into the summer transfer window, keeping some of their key stars will be just as important.
It’s set to be a busy summer already for the Merseyside club, with the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Ashley Young among those who are out of contract.
