Vaclav Cerny in shock Rangers twist as transfer approach made away from Ibrox

Vaclav Cerny faces an uncertain future at Rangers as his loan spell at Ibrox nears an end.

The Czech international has been one of the shining lights for Rangers this season, bagging 17 goals and seven assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

However, Cerny has less than two months remaining on his contract at Ibrox, having joined the Light Blues on a season-long loan from Wolfsburg last summer.

The Gers, therefore, have a decision to make regarding the 27-year-old ahead of the summer, despite being in the middle of a takeover led by Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe.

Besiktas make approach to sign Cerny

It is worth noting that Rangers have the opportunity to sign Cerny on a permanent deal on a cut-price fee.

Wolfsburg have agreed to let the attacker join the Glasgow giants for a sum of £5.5million if they trigger that clause by the end of May.

However, the fee could become more than double from June onwards, meaning the Gers are running out of time to make a decision regarding Cerny.

They now have more reasons to be worried about the Wolfsburg ace’s future, as Besiktas are interested in acquiring his services.

Besiktas have already made contact over signing the left-footer and are set to continue the process, according to Takvim.

The Turkish newspaper reported via their website (7 May) that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have made Cerny their top target for the summer after being impressed with his performances for Rangers.

‘Concrete developments’ regarding Cerny’s potential transfer to Istanbul are now expected in the next few days.
