The Rangers takeover and 49ers Enterprises manager appointment delay concern
Rangers spent much of the last year with Philippe Clement front and centre, having to answer every question about anything to do with the club.
There was no CEO, no sporting director, and for a while, there was no chairman either and the former Rangers manager was up against it.
What didn’t help was the Belgian’s reluctance to change, to adapt, or to accept that he was part of the problem too when domestic form nose-dived.
The lack of a hierarchy at Rangers gave him more time to turn things around, with defeat in the Scottish Cup to a mediocre Championship team guaranteeing that he didn’t have a future.
There is another spanner in the works this summer with the imminent takeover by the 49ers Enterprises group as the search for a new boss continues.
What sort of timeline does the next Rangers manager have?
Barry Ferguson has spoken about the need to get something sorted sooner, rather than later.
The qualifiers for the Champions League will be in late July and Rangers will have to have played a number of friendlies before then.
A return to Auchenhowie in the first week in June isn’t out of the question.
There will be five players leaving at the end of their contracts and there are others who have proven that they aren’t good enough for Rangers.
The Rangers squad should look completely different for the first day back, but is everything on hold until the takeover is complete?
Dave King has predicted mid-June for an announcement, as the largest shareholder, he probably has a good idea.
This doesn’t mean that Rangers will remain managerless until then though.
Does manager appointment rely on 49ers takeover?
It has been heavily reported how involved Paraag Marathe and Gretar Steinsson are in finding Rangers a manager.
