BEST SIGNING EVER;Nottingham Forest register interest in Liam Delap

Nottingham Forest have joined the race to sign exit-bound Ipswich Town star Liam Delap, sources have told Football Insider.

The 22-year-old has a relegation clause in his Ipswich contract believed to be worth £30million, and is expected to make an instant return to the Premier League.

Delap has scored 12 goals and provided two assists across 34 Premier League games so far this season despite his side’s struggles, attracting plenty of interest.

Everton and Man United are among the clubs who have been keeping close tabs on the former Man City striker with a potential swoop in mind.

Now, Forest have registered their interest in a deal as they seek cover and competition for their star striker Chris Wood ahead of the summer window.

This comes after Football Insider first revealed in February that Man United and Chelsea want to sign Delap as a number of elite sides have been tracking his progress.

Nottingham Forest rival Man United in Liam Delap race

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that United are leading the race for Delap, ahead of Newcastle and Chelsea.

The Red Devils believe the promise of first-team football has given them the edge ahead of their rivals who would be unable to offer the same role.

However, Forest’s interest could rival that with the offer of regular minutes and the chance to play in European competitions on the table.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are aiming to sign a new forward to match their European ambitions, after Football Insider revealed Forest want to sign Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.

Wood remains the first-choice number nine at the City Ground, but at 33 years old, the club have begun planning for a future without him.
