Former Leicester City loanee could be ideal signing after permanent transfer admission
Former loanee Callum Doyle should be back on Leicester City’s radar as he looks for a permanent transfer this summer.
Defender Doyle, who helped City to win the Championship last season, has spent the past year on loan at Norwich.
It was his fourth spell away from Manchester City, having previously been to Sunderland and Coventry, and he’s now looking to leave the Etihad Stadium for good and settle down somewhere.
“I think (a permanent move) is the next aim for me,” Doyle told the Pink Un, who cover Norwich. “It’s my fourth loan now, and I’ve been all over the country.
“I’ve loved playing here and at Carrow Road. The fans are great, so you never know (about a return). It just depends on what happens in the summer, to be honest.”
Doyle played 17 league games during City’s Championship triumph, starting every match early in the campaign before a knee injury ruled him out for a few months.
While Doyle was injured, James Justin established himself in the left-back position and so the Man City loanee struggled to get a run of games in the second half of the season.
But now may be the right time for City to bring him back. Under Enzo Maresca, Doyle mostly played as a left-back who would drop in on the left side of a back three when City were in possession.
At Norwich this season, his 40 Championship appearances were split between left-back and centre-back, helping him to develop his game at the heart of the defence.
He said: “I’ve been fluctuating between left-back, centre-back and stuff like that. I think it’s good for me, especially for my career going forward.
“I’ve got to have some things in my locker to have.
