REPORT;Rangers-linked winger transfer stance emerges as manager confirms he’s set to leave
Rangers are reportedly keen on signing Peterborough United winger Kwame Poku in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old’s contract at the Weston Homes Stadium is set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Gers have been linked with the Ghana international since 2024 as they’re keen on adding to their ranks in the final third.
Darren Ferguson admits Poku is set to leave this summer
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson has admitted that the 23-year-old is expected to leave this summer.
He expects him to join a top Championship club and has even tipped him to be a Premier League player in the future.
Peterborough Telegraph claim that he prefers staying in England over a move to Rangers.
“I fully expect Kwame to sign for a top Championship club and he could then go on and play in the Premier League.
“He’s had an exceptional season even though he’s missed 20 games or so because of injury. To get in the League One select team shows how good he was when he played.”
Poku would be a terrific signing for Rangers
Rangers should consider signing Poku due to his proven talent and youthful profile, while Peterborough boss Ferguson’s comments signal a green light for clubs to act swiftly.
Poku, a 23-year-old winger, has delivered an impressive 12 goals and eight assists in just 27 League One appearances this season, despite missing time due to a hamstring injury, showcasing his ability to impact games in a physically demanding league.
His contract expiring in summer 2025 makes him available on a free transfer, requiring only a modest compensation fee, offering significant value for a player of his calibre.
Gers, needing to bolster their attacking options with uncertainties surrounding Vaclav Cerny, Oscar Cortes, and Ianis Hagi, could benefit from Poku’s pace, flair and goal-scoring instincts, especially as they aim to compete in Scotland and Europe.
