West Ham are continuing talks to sign Burnley defender CJ Egan-Riley, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee

Burnley, who are managed by former Hammers captain Scott Parker, have achieved automatic promotion to the Premier League for next season, with Parker’s side recording an incredible defensive record in the Championship this season – conceding only 15 goals in 45 matches so far.

Egan-Riley has been a standout performer for the Burnley backline this season, with the newly-promoted side eager to tie the player down to a new contract, with his existing deal expiring this summer.

As has been reported now for a number of months by our insider ExWHUEmployee, Graham Potter is very keen to bring the defender to east London, with the club hoping to convince the player of a move over remaining at the club he has achieved promotion.

“The club are continuing talks with Burnley defender Egan-Riley, as we look to sign the player on a free transfer,” stated Ex. “He’s versatile as can operate as a centre-back as well as dropping into defensive midfield if needed.

“Talks are ongoing but Burnley are desperate to convince him to stay. We also hold an interest in their captain Josh Brownhill, who is also out of contract this summer.

“However, Egan-Riley at this stage is considered the player of most interest as we push to strike a deal to sign the 22-year old defender.”
