Nottingham Forest can now land player targeted before Ibrahim Sangare in bargain deal, he’s just been relegated

Nottingham Forest will be going in search of a few new players during the summer transfer window, with European football set to be on the agenda.

The Reds have five games left of the Premier League campaign, and it’s all to play for in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Forest lost 2-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend and now, complete focus can be on the remaining Premier League games and the summer transfer window.

Lessons were learned in the summer of 2024 with the signings of Nikola Milenkovic and Elliot Anderson proving very useful indeed from a Forest perspective.

With Europe set to be on the agenda, however, Forest will need a similar approach to recruitment this summer and it promises to be an exciting close season at the City Ground.

Wilfred Ndidi now available for cut-price deal

Forest looked at Ndidi just before parting with £30 million to land Ibrahim Sangare in the summer of 2023 and he’s set to depart Leicester in the summer.

Sangare hasn’t quite become the dominant defensive midfield force that was anticipated in the Premier League and that could lead Forest to look at other options this summer.

It’s claimed by TalkSPORT that three clubs now want to sign the Nigerian with a £9 million release clause now activated on the back of the Foxes being relegated from the Premier League.

The clubs aren’t named in the report but they’re all from the Premier League and there is absolutely no denying that one of those might well be Forest.

Forest definitely need options when it comes to defensive midfielders next year and it remains to be seen whether or not Sangare will remain on Trentside.
