Steven Gerrard return, Ibrox expansion and Red Bull Rangers as San Francisco 49ers get to work

The transfer window has yet to open and yet silly season is fully upon those who have had the misfortune of being Rangers supporters this season.

Under both Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Philippe Clement, league titles could have been won, in fact, a double and a treble could have been won to go alongside the progress in the Europa League.

The reality though, is an entirely different story with the next Rangers manager inheriting a squad that needs a lot of work.

Craig Moore is right in that every player is up for sale, however, it won’t be as simple as that for Nils Koppen and new sporting director Kevin Thelwell.

First item on the agenda is for a manager to be appointed with the Scottish Daily Express claiming that they know who the most likely candidate is, as well as a few other big claims.

Rangers to get new sponsor, manager and stadium?

First appearing on Rangers’ fans’ forums, the Express has reported that the first commercial benefit of the San Francisco 49ers takeover could be a high profile one.

The express have done the maths; Thelwell worked at New York Red Bulls, Leeds Utd are sponsored by Red Bull, and the 49ers are heavily connected with the energy drink giants.

Obviously, this means that Rangers are set to get a new front of shirt and major sponsor in Red Bull according to “insiders” who say it is going to be a “record commercial deal” for Scottish football.

Happy days.

Next up, with Leeds setting laying the foundations, figuratively and metaphorically, the 49ers have Ibrox expansion on their minds too.

The plans have already been drawn up for various scenarios with the aborted sports bar in the old club superstore potentially an indication of what they plan to do with the funds instead.
