Simon Jordan annouces the decision of board members to get Graham Potter sacked at West Ham United

Graham Potter has struggled to get a tune out of West Ham since his arrival at the London Stadium.

The appointment of Julen Lopetegui did not pay off in East London, despite hopes that he could improve on the football being played under David Moyes.

However, Potter’s predecessor left him with few resources to play with in the winter transfer window and the end of the campaign has been a drag.

Simon Jordan reacts to Potter sack calls

The Hammers have not won a Premier League game in seven, and with Niclas Fullkrug having called out his teammates, it’s clear that the atmosphere at the London Stadium is not a happy one.

After a 3-2 defeat against Brighton on Saturday (26 April), Potter was booed off by both sets of supporters, showing the disappointment among the fanbase at West Ham.

The manager is likely to be given the summer transfer window to put his own stamp on things and improve the team in preparation for next season.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (29 April, 11:51am), Simon Jordan said that Potter deserves time, but said a slow start to next season could get him the sack.

“I think it was always going to be next season that he had to be judged upon,” Jordan said. “He’s got to change the direction of travel for West Ham for a variety of different reasons.

“I don’t think the appointment of Lopetegui was a great appointment. I never thought it was at the time.

“This idea that it was suddenly going to be this massive departure from what David Moyes was producing as football was just nonsense.

“How things get characterised in a certain way, then people get judged by a certain set of expectations.
