Everton can land cut-price Wilfried Ndidi bargain as BBC share major update

Everton are eyeing up some market opportunities ahead of the summer transfer window, and could now land themselves a bargain.

David Moyes returned to Everton to help beat the drop and comfortably avoid relegation, but the same cannot be said of Leicester City, who will return to the Championship.

Everton have long been linked with Leicester star Wilfred Ndidi, having tried to sign him last year, and a new development could now see him arrive on Merseyside.

Ndidi has been one of Leicester’s better players in recent years, and he could now stay in the Premier League by finally joining Moyes’ team.

Ndidi available for transfer with relegation release clause

As a result of Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League, Ndidi will be available for a bargain price this summer.

It has been reported by BBC Sport (29 April) that Ndidi is now available for £9million due to a relegation clause in his contract that has kicked in – a remarkably low price for a player of his experience and quality.

Ndidi has made 300 appearances for Leicester, and the 28-year-old still has plenty left in the tank. Although the Foxes were dismal this season, he was one of the better performers over the course of the season.

With Everton in the market for a midfielder, Ndidi could be the perfect signing for Moyes this summer.

Ndidi can help replace Idrissa Gana Gueye at Everton

Everton have been fairly reliant on veteran midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye, but at 35, he may not have long left in his legs.

Gueye would need replacing over the next year or so, and Ndidi could be the ideal replacement.

Both are similar in profile as defensive midfielders who can occasionally push further forward, and Ndidi would offer fresh athleticism in the middle of the park.
