
Leeds to replace two starters who ‘aren’t good enough for Premier League’
Leeds United are preparing for a busy summer transfer window as they aim to back Daniel Farke with a squad fit for the Premier League.
Concerns have arisen about a number of players in the current starting XI, with several incoming deals targeted to replace the first-team stars.
Industry insider Mick Brown told Football Insider that Leeds are planning six new signings amid concerns that their squad is not good enough for the Premier League.
Now, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson who remains well-connected at the club, has told Football Insider that Brenden Aaronson and Junior Firpo will be among those replaced.
That is despite the latter having made 34 appearances across all competitions, while the latter has featured in every one of Leeds’ league games so far.
Meanwhile, other players being eyed are a new goalkeeper and new striker amid concerns about Illan Meslier as well as Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford.
Brenden Aaronson and Junior Firpo to be replaced at Leeds United
Aaronson and Firpo were both part of Leeds’ Premier League squad which got relegated in the 2022-23 season, leading to concerns about their performances at that level.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 25 April that Leeds want to sign West Ham’s Tomas Soucek to strengthen their options in midfield with experience.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that the Elland Road club are planning to be clever with their recruitment to strengthen their aim of staying in the Premier League this time around.
“Leeds are going to have to replace players,” he told Football Insider.
“Thecame out of the Premier League with a similar squad, and players in that squad weren’t good enough.
“To mention two: Brenden Aaronson and Junior Firpo weren’t good enough for the Premier League.
