‘Offer prepared’ – Wolves steam ahead in bid to snatch £5m star from Nottingham Forest’s grasp
The latest transfer news involving Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly stepping up their interest in Palmeiras wonderkid Riquelme Fillipi ahead of the summer transfer window.
Wolves, hopeful of continuing their trend of signing exciting young talent from Brazil, have been tracking Riquelme’s progress. The Old Gold already have Brazilian stars Matheus Cunha, Joao Gomes, Andre and Pedro Lima among their current cohort; now they’re eager to add yet another.
Riquelme, just 18 years of age, is yet to make the step up to Palmeiras’ senior team but he’s impressed for the under-20s squad as their top scorer in 2025. The versatile attacker has netted 13 goals and made three assists in 18 appearances since the turn of the year, attracting interest from across Europe.
Brazilian outlet Nosso Palestra reports Wolves have signalled to Palmeiras that they will make a bid of around €6million (£5.1m) plus add-ons for Riquelme once the summer transfer window comes around. The Old Gold have been scouting the teenager and are convinced, despite his lack of senior experience, that he has the potential to break through as an important player.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, were heavily linked with Riquelme last summer as The Athletic reported Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were willing to spend £5million to acquire his services. A move never materialised as Riquelme extended his stay in Brazil, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Forest’s interest has ceased.
Given their success this season and potential Champions League qualification, Forest could perhaps be the more attractive suitors. Wolves could offer a more immediate breakthrough, though, so that’s not a full-gone conclusion.
Forest aren’t the only club capable of providing competition for Riquelme as the report from Nosso Palestra mentions clubs from across many of Europe’s top leagues are also interested.
