Manager with two European Cups backed to replace Brendan Rodgers at Celtic if he joins Tottenham

Brendan Rodgers leaving Celtic midway through a season for Leicester City in 2019 has just about been forgotten about.

When Ange Postecoglou left Celtic and joined Tottenham during the summer of 2023, many were surprised to see Rodgers return to the Parkhead dugout.

Fast forward to the present, and the Celtic manager is cleaning house again in his second season in charge of his second spell.

Celtic are on course for the Treble, as it has been pure domination from the Irishman once again in Glasgow.

But, in recent times, there has been a lot of talk around Rodgers’ future and contract – his current deal expires during the summer of 2026.

On top of that, Postecoglou could lose his job at Tottenham, and Rodgers’ name was suggested by football pundits, including Alan Brazil, naming who could replace him at Celtic if he left.Jose Mourinho backed to replace Brendan Rodgers at Celtic if he joins Tottenham

Jose Mourinho has spoken about his love for Celtic this season, when his Fenerbahce side played Rangers in the Europa League.

The outspoken coach, who has won 26 trophies in his career, including two European Cups, has a history with Rodgers from their days together at Chelsea.

Brazil made it clear that he wouldn’t mind Mourinho becoming Celtic manager, especially given that he knows what the club’s fans are all about after seeing it first hand for that 2003 UEFA Cup final, as he told talkSPORT.

“It’s not bad what Jose did there, even at Roma, it was brilliant,” stated Brazil.

On if Brendan hangs around: “I don’t know. They should beat Aberdeen, but you never know in football. Cup finals. Crikey. But should beat Aberdeen. They win the Treble.

“Does he think, ‘get out when the time is right’. I think if a cracking job comes up.
