CONFIRMED REPORT;Newcastle United reveals the quitting of Lewis Miley this summer

Newcastle United have “huge hopes” for Lewis Miley and have no plans to let the midfielder leave this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 17-year-old has firmly established himself as a member of Eddie Howe‘s first-team squad at St. James’ Park and is highly-rated on Tyneside, with 43 senior appearances and three goals alreay.

Miley’s 16 outings this season aren’t likely to beat the 26 appearances he made last term, but the teenager’s performances and nous to find the net have been praised by his Newcastle team-mates.

However, after former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Newcastle will have to sell multiple fringe players to comply with PSR regulations, Miley could be one player who is let go.

Despite this, sources have told Football Insider it would be a surprise if Newcastle sanction an exit for Miley this summer, given they’ve pinned “huge hopes” on a home-grown Geordie who “loves the club”.

Newcastle to rebuff transfer bids for Lewis Miley

Mick Brown suggested to Football Insider just this week (21 April) that Newcastle could sell Miley in a bid to ensure maximum PSR profit, in a similar vein to his former employers Manchester United with Kobbie Mainoo.

However, Football Insider sources have said that Newcastle have so much trust in Miley’s ability and potential that the prospect of a transfer won’t be entertained, with a plan to give him increased minutes.

Miley’s brother Jamie did make a agree away from St. James’ last August, loaned to Newport before a permanent switch to Hartlepool in January, but the Magpies are much keener on keeping hold of the younger Miley.

Newcastle ready for another summer of transfer churn

Miley looks set to be staying put at St. James’ Park, but Football Insider revealed on 11 April that Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton’s futures will only be secured via Champions League qualification.
